Black Friday WhatsApp marketing messages work best as a short sequence sent only to customers who opted in: a teaser, an early-access note, a launch message on Friday 27 November 2026, a last call and a thank-you. Keep each one short, name your shop, state the real offer and dates, and give an easy way to stop.

WhatsApp is where your customers talk to friends, so a Black Friday message there feels personal, and a careless one feels like spam. This guide is for independent shop owners who want ready-to-use Black Friday WhatsApp messages they can adapt in a few minutes, plus the rules to check before pressing send.
Key takeaways
- Only message people who gave you their number and agreed to hear from your shop on WhatsApp. That is WhatsApp's own policy, not just good manners.
- On the WhatsApp Business Platform, a conversation you start must use a message template that WhatsApp has approved, so submit your Black Friday templates early.
- Three or four messages across the week is plenty. Pick the ones that fit your shop from the six templates below.
- Every message should name your shop, state the offer and dates as they really are, and tell people how to stop.
What are the rules for Black Friday WhatsApp marketing messages?
The rules come from two places: WhatsApp's Business Messaging Policy, and the privacy law of the country your customers live in. You need to pass both.
WhatsApp's policy, last updated on 23 September 2026, says you may only contact people on WhatsApp if they have given you their phone number and you have received their opt-in permission. You choose how to collect that opt-in, and you must respect every request to block you or stop, whether it reaches you on WhatsApp or anywhere else.
Meta's developer guide adds the detail for shops using the WhatsApp Business Platform (the version used through providers and tools, not the free phone app). Your opt-in request must say clearly that the person is signing up for messages from your business, and it must name your business. Meta lists ways to collect it: by SMS, on a website, by phone, or in person on paper. That last one matters for a shop: a sign-up sheet at the till is an accepted method for WhatsApp, as long as it names your shop and says "WhatsApp offers". It must also meet the local consent rules in the table below.
Two more platform rules shape Black Friday planning:
- Approved templates only, to start a conversation. On the Business Platform you may only start a conversation with an approved message template. Outside the 24-hour window that opens when a customer writes to you, you may only send approved templates.
- Quality counts. Meta says it will rate limit businesses whose quality stays low for a sustained period. In plain words: if lots of people block or report you, your messages slow down right when you need them.
Country rules on top of WhatsApp's rules
This table is a starting point, not legal advice.
How much do WhatsApp marketing messages cost?
As of October 2026, Meta charges per message on the WhatsApp Business Platform, a model in place since 1 July 2025. Only delivered template messages are billed, and the price depends on the template's category (marketing, utility or authentication) and on the country code of the person receiving it. Messages that are not templates are free, but you can only send them inside an open customer service window, after the customer has written to you.
So a Black Friday promotion sent as a marketing template costs money per delivered message, and the rate differs between, say, France and Ghana. Check the current rate card in Meta's pricing page or with your provider before you decide how many messages to send.
The 6 Black Friday WhatsApp message templates
Copy these, then replace everything in [square brackets]. Do not add a price, a discount or an end time that is not real: a message is an advertisement, and the price rules for advertising apply to it too. If you sell in France, remember that Black Friday is a promotion, not "soldes", and the reference price for a discount is the lowest price you charged in the 30 days before it, according to the DGCCRF.
1. Teaser (Monday 23 November)
Hi [first name], it's [shop name]. Our Black Friday offer starts on Friday 27 November: [one-line hint, e.g. "something good on winter coats"]. We'll send the details on Thursday. Reply STOP to stop these messages.
2. Early access for regulars (Thursday 26 November)
Hi [first name], as one of our regulars you can shop our Black Friday offer a day early: [real offer], [start and end dates]. Show this message in store or use code [CODE] online. Reply STOP to stop these messages.
Only send this if the early access is real. "A day early" must mean a day early.
3. Launch day (Friday 27 November)
Black Friday is on at [shop name]: [real offer], until [real end date and time]. Find us at [address] or shop at [link]. Questions? Just reply here. Reply STOP to stop these messages.
This is the one message almost every shop should send. Invite replies: a customer asking "do you have it in a 42?" is a sale in progress.
4. Weekend reminder (Saturday 28 November)
Morning [first name]! Our Black Friday offer runs all weekend at [shop name]: [real offer]. Open today [opening hours]. Reply STOP to stop these messages.
In the US, Saturday 28 November 2026 is Small Business Saturday, according to the US Small Business Administration, so you can add "Thank you for shopping small this Small Business Saturday." In the UK, Small Business Saturday is on 5 December 2026, a week later, so save that line for then.
5. Last call (Monday 30 November, Cyber Monday)
Last day of our Black Friday offer: [real offer] ends tonight at [real time]. [Link or "see you in store until 7pm"]. Reply STOP to stop these messages.
Only say "last day" if the offer really ends. If it does not, a gentle "a reminder that our offer runs until [date]" is the honest version.
6. Thank you (Tuesday 1 December)
Thank you for shopping with [shop name] this Black Friday, [first name]. [Optional: a real perk, e.g. "Show this message for free gift wrapping until 24 December."] Reply STOP to stop these messages.
The thank-you is the message customers remember. Keep it short and do not attach a new sale to it.
How to send your Black Friday WhatsApp messages, step by step
- Check your list. Keep only the people who opted in to WhatsApp messages from your shop, and note when and how they did.
- Choose three or four messages from the six above. Launch day plus one before and one after is a good minimum.
- Write the real details first: the offer, the products, the start and end dates and times. Then drop them into the templates.
- Submit templates early if you use the WhatsApp Business Platform. Approval is not instant, and Black Friday week is a bad time to wait.
- Schedule the sends for times your customers are awake and your shop is staffed to answer replies.
- Answer replies fast. Each reply opens a 24-hour window in which you can chat freely, and free-form replies in that window are not billed as templates.
- Remove anyone who says stop, straight away, everywhere you keep their number.
Start from your existing promo text
If you already wrote your Black Friday post for Facebook or Instagram, you have most of a WhatsApp message. Our free sale announcement generator builds one from your shop name, offer and dates. For a test hardware shop with "20% off all power tools" from Friday 27 to Monday 30 November, it produced this social line (tool output, unedited):
✨ News from Corner Hardware: 20% off all power tools for our Flash Sale (Friday 27 to Monday 30 November). Save this post so you don't forget! 📌 #CornerHardware
For WhatsApp, drop the hashtags, change "Save this post" to "Reply here with any question", and add your stop line. The promo caption generator gives more openers in five tones. Both tools are free and need no sign-up.

FAQ
Can I send Black Friday offers on WhatsApp?
Yes, if the people you message gave you their number and agreed to receive messages from your shop on WhatsApp. That is WhatsApp's policy. On the WhatsApp Business Platform, the first message must use an approved template. Local privacy law, such as PECR in the UK or the CNIL rules in France, applies on top.
Do I need permission to send WhatsApp marketing messages?
Yes. WhatsApp's Business Messaging Policy only lets you contact people who shared their number and opted in to hear from you. Your opt-in request must name your business. Keep a record of when and how each person agreed, and remove anyone who asks you to stop, on or off WhatsApp.
How much does it cost to send WhatsApp marketing messages?
On the WhatsApp Business Platform, Meta charges per delivered template message since 1 July 2025. The price depends on the template category and the recipient's country code. Messages you send inside a 24-hour window opened by the customer, without a template, are free. Check Meta's current rate card before planning a campaign.
How do I send one WhatsApp message to all my customers?
On the WhatsApp Business Platform, you send an approved marketing template to your opted-in list through a provider or a tool like Liflio. The free WhatsApp Business app also offers broadcast lists. Either way, message only people who opted in, and ask them to save your number as a contact.
How many Black Friday messages should I send on WhatsApp?
Three or four across the week is enough for most shops: a teaser, the launch-day message and a last call or thank-you. More than one a day feels like spam. If people start blocking you, Meta can slow your sending, which hurts most during Black Friday week itself.
Your next step
Black Friday WhatsApp marketing messages are not hard to write. The work is in the list: people who said yes, a real offer, and a quick answer when they reply. Pick your three or four messages this week, fill in the brackets, and if you use the Business Platform, submit your templates now.
